/p> Caption from St. Thomas Times-Journal on December 31, 1949, page twenty: “On the first Day of the New Year.
2_2858: “Tomorrow, as another new year opens, many young citizens in city and county alike will be observing the day in this way. The photograph shows three children of Alma Street, Presbyterian Church who will be coming to Sunday School on the first day of the new year as they are accustomed to do each Sunday. They themselves can scarcely be aware of the significance of their coming or of what it means to be starting the year right and life right, but they look forward happily to Sunday School each Sabbath Day and their going sets a patter for years to come. Paul West, four-year-old son of the ministers of the church, Rev. J.K. West, and Mrs. West, holds the door open for two little neighbors, Judy Bridges (left), daughter of Mr. and Mrs. George Bridges, and Carol Denny, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. James Denny, both three years old and both of 27 Horton Street.”
