Moore, former supervising probation officer for Elgin, Middlesex, Oxford, Huron and Haldimand Counties, was honored by friends and colleagues at the Elgin Regiment, Sunday. Recently appointed to the position of deputy superintendent of Glendale Training School in Simcoe, Mr. Moore was presented with a set of golf clubs in recognition of his work in probation services. "Floor hockey champions... Stars - The Stars captured the first annual Ken Black Memorial Trophy by winning the Elgin County Floor Hockey Championships recently at the High Street YMCA. "Getting his kicks - Mark DeLeemans, 20, of Aylmer demonstrates a karate kick for the photographer during kickboxing training at the St. Thomas YMCA. DeLeemans is wearing standard 12-ounce boxing gloves and four-ounce kicks which are protective foam 'boots' attached to the foot by a strap. There is no bottom to the kick[s] worn by kickboxers. "Preparing for Worlds - Gord Catterson of St. Thomas is shown as he begins his squat lift during training at the YMCA this week for the World Powerlifting Championships which are being held this weekend in Dayton, Ohio. Catterson will be lifting for the first time in late afternoon but welcomes the change because he says he does most of his training at that time of day anyway. He is competing Friday at the three-day event in the 132.25-pound class." (20a)

The St. Thomas YMCA Power Lifting Club members lifted 1,328, 1,200 and 948 pounds respectively.
