Three black-and-white negative photographs featuring the winners of the $100 West Lorne Minor Hockey and Figure Skating draw, on January 31, 1985.
W9 B2 217a was published in the West Lorne Sun on January 31, 1985, with the caption: "$100 prize winners in Saturday night's elimination draw in Dutton Community Centre, were Mrs. McIntyre of West Lorne, John Fisher and Steve Fodor of Rodney, Maxine Kenter, President of the sponsoring West Lorne Minor Hockey Ass'n. stands at left, and co-sponsoring West Lorne Figure Skating Club President Joan Chaponis, stands at right. Peter Vergeer of Rodney, was another $100 winner. The grand prize of $1,000 was split by Conrad Felder of Rodney, and Grace Wilson of West Lorne. Two hundred and eighty-five attended the roast beef banquet provided by Minor Hockey and Figure Skating club members. Music for dancing was provided by Crinan Country."

"In full stride - Jack Valiquette, of Aylmer, uses his good size (6'2" and 190 pounds) to full advantage as he breaks down the ice during Friday's Junior 'A' game at the London Gardens. He was leading the OHA in scoring points with 69 going into the contest. However, he failed to add to that total as the London Knights defeated the visiting Greyhounds 4-1." (5a)

"Mothers vs. novice - Minor hockey mothers donned their skates Friday night for an exhibition game against a Novice team from the house league in Aylmer. The game was the highlight of the minor hockey night, one of two special nights held during the holiday season. Shown here, from left, are Sheila Wood, Les Toth, referee, and Stephen Miller, while Raymond DeCoutere, referee, is looking on in the background. About 500 persons attended the game but there was more laughter than cheering. At one point in the game the women sent out all of their players but still did not manage to score. The youngsters scored several goals that were apparently disallowed since the final score was announced as 1-0 in favor of the mothers." (5b)

Caption from St. Thomas Times-Journal: "Two Public School Championship Teams: Balaclava and Wellington Boast Fine Young Players." 2_784: "Hockey teams representing Wellington Street Public School and Bataclava Street School will meet in the Granite Area tonight at 8 c'clock to decide City of St. Thomas public school title.
