Scope and Content
Three black-and-white negative photographs featuring Art Grayling at work in his fishery, on May 2, 1974.
W9 B7 28a was published in the West Lorne Sun on May 2, 1974, with the caption: "Fishing was good off Port Glasgow last week because lake bass were coming to shore to spawn in great numbers. Friday Art Grayling of Port Stanley, who uses the marina certain times of the season, caught 600 pounds of bass, which netted him 25 cents a pound. Here he is seen taking fish out of the twine. He said the run was the heaviest he has seen in a long time. He set the large mesh twine a quarter mile or so off shore and parallel to it on Thursday and lifted Friday morning. Operating the tug alone, it took him many hours to clear the nets and get them ready for reseting the next day. Lake bass swim within ten feet of the surface and likely can still be caught casting from shore or boat using small spinners."

One black and white photograph used in St. Thomas Times-Journal article published February 25, 1977, with caption:
"Elgin fishermen protest association fee hike - The 1977 executive of the Elgin Fishermen's Association is pictured at the group's regular monthly meeting Tuesday night in Port Stanley. From left are Sam Vary of Port Stanley, secretary-treasurer; Larry Martin of Port Burwell, president; and Jack Vary of Port Stanley, vice-president. Talk at the meeting centred on the January Ontario Council of Fisheries annual meeting in Toronto. Some members expressed dissatisfaction with the council's recently announced hike in membership fees from $20 a year per person to $50. The Elgin group says they will pay the increase under protest. They say the council's financial statement indicates that there is plenty of money in the bank." (42)

It is expected the 32 by 48-foot prefabricated frame building will be ready for use in about two weeks. A staff of six will be required to handle the hauls of fish caught by Co-Operative shareholders out of Port Burwell. The $6,000 building is being erected by Arch and Truss Structures Ltd., Waterdown. Scope and Content
Two black and white photographs used in St. Thomas Times-Journal article published March 30, 1971 with captions:
"Preparations - When the ice clears from Lake Erie, Frank Williams of Port Burwell plans to lay about 600 nets off the coast of Port Burwell. With the perch season already two weeks behind, he has only managed to lay about 250 nets, collecting only four or five of them due to ice conditions. Seen here, preparing a 60-yard gill net is Mr. Williams (left), and Orville Liberty, another Port Burwell fisherman." (3a)
"Could Be More - Despite the heavy ice, fisherman Frank Williams of Port Burwell has been able to collect four or five of the 250 nets he laid last week. Hung similar to a fence, the nets become entangled in the fish's gills. Mr. Williams said that only a small number have been caught because the chilly temperature of the water makes the fish motionless. Seen here, preparing the fish at the Williams Fisheries in Port Burwell is Mr. Williams' wife Gwen." (3b)
