Coyle. The Aylmer Condensed Milk Company In 1892 David Marshall partnered with George Allworth to build a condensed milk and cream evaporating plant – the first of its kind. Orders came in from all over the world and they began operating 24 hours a day. Marshall later bought the Condensed Milk Company from Allworth and included it under the Aylmer Canners. Unfortunately, no known photo exists of the first building the company operated out of. In 1907 a $60,000 brick building was built for the Aylmer Condensed Milk Company on the east side of John Street North. This building was used until the company’s closing. Carnation Milk in Aylmer On November 27, 1916 the Aylmer Condensed Milk Company was purchased by the Carnation Company. This marked the first Carnation plant in Canada! At this point the factory employed about 75 people. Employment at the factory reached its peak during the Second World War and employed roughly 150 people. The Later Years As of the 1980s the Aylmer plant of Carnation employed 48 people in the condensed milk division and 25 in the can division. Production at the Aylmer Carnation Company plant later stopped and the plant was closed on May 1st, 1987. The building sat empty and with no other interest in it, was later torn down in 1993.

Description
Photograph of a group of people in front of the Aylmer Train Station. The group is standing on the platform of the train station, and includes men, women, and children. The "Aylmer" sign can be seen on the building. The reverse is dated August 4, 1947. In 1872 the Great Western Railway constructed the “Canada Air Line” through the town of Aylmer. The station was situated just west of John Street and south of the tracks. The station burnt down in the 1890s and no known image exists of the first station. The station was later rebuilt as seen in this photograph. In 1882 the line was then taken over by the Grand Truck Railway and the station became known as the Wabash Station.
