Small photograph of the St. Thomas City Hall set against a white background. Beneath the image is the caption: "No. 215. Municipal Building, St. Thomas, Ontario." The original owner has written next to the image. There is a St. Thomas postmark dated October 1, 1903, and a Rochester, New York postmark dated to October 2, 1903. Addressed to Miss Hattie A. Heal of Rochester, New York. The image used in this postcard was probably taken ca. 1900-1901. St. Thomas City Hall, designed by architect Neil Darrach, was constructed 1898-1899. The official cornerstone laying ceremony was held in August, 1898, and the building was officially opened on November 20, 1899. Note that the clock has not yet been installed in the tower: it was installed in late 1900 or early 1901.
