"Award recipients - The Kinsmen's Girls Hockey League honored members of its league at its annual banquet with awards for the 1979-80 season. Above, from left, are Yvonne Langford, who received an appreciation award for her work with the league, Heather Hepburn, of Port Stanley Beacons, the top scorer's trophy, Connie Roberts, the Cistic Fibrosis trophy for raising the most money on behalf of lthe fight against that disease, and Karen Kapogines of Aylmer Flames who tied Hepburn for top scorer's honors and was the league's best in assists." Black and white photograph used in St. Thomas Times-Journal article published April 19, 1968 with caption: " Something new in the auctioneering styles - and fashions - will be seen at Monday's Art Auction to be held at the auditorium of the St. Thomas-Elgin Memorial Community Centre. The auction, being held to raise money to purchase a nucleus of paintings for a permanent art collection for Elgin County - is being sponsored by the creative arts committee of the University Women's Club. A large number of paintings have been assembled for the sale which will be held from 7 to 9 p.m. The auctioneers at the sale will be in costume.
