She was even more pleased when presented with a number of gifts for herself and the new child, to be named Stanley Lockwood Merrion. Gifts included Centennial medallions and a dollar bill from the hospital staff, a silver christening cup from the hospital auxiliary, flowers from the board of directors, free hairdo at Eleanor's Carousel Beauty Salon, in Newbury; a high chair from McNaughton's Automotive Suppy in Newbury, and a feeding set from Lennan's Lunch and Variety in Newbury."

"Inspecting Equipment - Chris Ross, 8 (left) and his brother Greg, 7, of Chatham are interested in this sterilizing unit as they make a tour through the Four Counties General Hospital in Newbury with their mother, Mrs. Donald Ross. Mrs. Ross used to live in Newbury and came back yesterday for the Open House." (7a)
"Sparkling Kitchen - Mrs. Joyce Taylor of Wardsville, dietitian at the Four Counties General Hospital, cuts a chocolate cake amid the sparkling stainless steel equipment in the kitchen during yesterday's Open House. The kitchen now produces lunch for the staff every day and served a banquet for 37 people at the official opening. Mrs. Taylor describes the kitchen as having the "very latest of everything."" (7b)
"Waiting their Turn - So many people attended yesterday's Open House at the Four Counties General Hospital in Newbury that the front lobby was packed all afternoon. A line-up formed outside and guided tour groups had to double in size. The parking lot was jammed and police guided traffic outside the hospital." (7c)
"Modern Solarium - Douglas Coventry, director of nursing at the Four Counties General Hospital, and Thomas Steep, administrator, take a moment to relax and talk in the solarium during a hectic Sunday afternoon at the new building. Yesterday was the scene of an Open House at the hospital." (7d)
