Guides, Brownies, and Scouts assembled at Knox Presbyterian Church in Fingal on Sunday to celebrate the occasion. Black and white photograph used in St. Thomas Times-Journal article published March 13, 1978 with caption: "The 1st Fingal Cub pack won the Snetselaar trophy for the, in most winning entries at the model and achievement day held Saturday at Grace United Church. Donated by the family memory of the late Ryk Snetselaar. It was the first time the trophy had been presented. Pictured in the front row, left to right, are Robert Hlatki, Mike Dees, Danny Degraw, Darrin Reiger, and Brian Bobier; second row, Lee Carmichael, Terry Vander Maarel Stewart Kruppe, John Palmer and Mark Pell; Back row, Paul Cassel, district commissioner, Akela Peter Vanderkooy, and Neva Carmichael, assistant Cub master. History / Biographical
George Elliott Casey was born to William and Sarah Casey on March 24, 1850 in the Township of Southwold. He received his education from the University of Toronto and married Sarah Isabella Biggar (daughter of MP James Lyons Biggar) in 1877. He served as a Liberal Member of Parliament for Elgin West from 1872 to 1900. At the time, he was the youngest member of the House of Commons. In 1903, he was appointed to the Canadian Parliamentary Library in Ottawa. In the same year, he died in Ottawa at the age of 53. According to comments received from the public, a tornado in August 1990 passed through the Township of Southwold and destroyed the large trees in front of this property. In addition, it has been rumoured that Sir Wilfred Laurier stayed at this home during a visit to the County of Elgin. The home was next to the McNish Estate, formerly owned by the Hagerty family, who was also a Member of Parliament. In the 1980s, the owners at the time carried out significant restoration efforts, including restoring the original marble fireplace.

Two colour photographs of the former George Elliott Casey estate, located 37015 Fingal Line, east of Fingal. Photograph was included in the Wallacetown Women's Institute Tweedsmuir History, Volume 4, page 92:

Two black and white photographs used in St. Thomas Times-Journal article published April 20, 1974 concerning an automobile accident that killed Lawrence Leatherdale, 20, Fingal, Ontario. Published with caption: "Fingal Man Killed - A Fingal area man died in the wreckage of this car early this morning, when the vehicle was struck by an eastbound Norfolk and Western Railway freight train at a level crossing on Highway 4 just south of Talbotville. Two other people were taken to St. Thomas-Elgin General Hospital with undetermined injuries. The mishap occurred about 6:40 a.m. Elgin County Coroner Dr. R.J. Floyd of St. Thomas and Ontario Provincial Police of the St. Thomas detachment, shown above, inspect the wreckage of the car."
