R13 S3 Sh6 B2 233f was published in the West Lorne Sun on November 3, 1977, with the caption: "Rodney, West Lorne and Sparta Scouts and Cubs marched out of Port Glasgow Park Sunday morning at 9:30 with color party leading, enroute to New Glasgow Presbyterian Church, where they attended the 10 o'clock service. Supervising the march at left is Mrs. Paul Cassel. In the background are fathers carrying future cubs on their shoulders who are too young to walk the mile to church. One Sparta Scout on crutches was taken by car."

Caption from St. Thomas Times-Journal, June 25, 1951, page one: “Johnny Page is Made a Wolf Cub.” 1_2356: “Rev. E.J. Roulston, pastor of Central United Church, conducted the Scouts’ and Cubs’ Own Service on Sunday afternoon at Pinafore Park during which Johnny Page, the West Lorne boy who lost both hands as the result of shock burns in a boyish escapade last March and who is still in the hospital here, became a Wolf Cub. Seated in a circle behind Mr. Roulston are others who took part in the open air service, attended by a large gathering of St. Thomas Scouts and Cubs and their parents and friends. From the left in the picture are Rev. R.W. Lane, rector of St. John’s Church; Rev. N.F. Swackhammer, pastor of Centre Street Baptist Church; Alderman Peter Laing; Rev. J.F. Ward, pastor of Broderick Memorial Church; H.K. Patton, of the Boy Scouts Association; Postmaster Frank McDonald; Miss Isabell Stewart, superintendent of nurses at the Memorial Hospital, and Wolf Cub Johnny Page.” 1_2355: “Midway through the service, Johnny Page came forward to be made a member of the Wolf Cubs, receiving his certificate of membership from H.K. Patton, vice-president of the St. Thomas Boy Scouts Association, and his cap, neckerchief and Cub insignia from Alderman Peter Laing. Representing the Cubs and Scouts during this ceremony were Cub Jim Chapman, of the Centre Street Baptist Church pack, and Scout Jack Green, of the Grace United Church troop. Left to right are Mr. Laing, Cub Johnny Page, Cub Chapman, Scout Green and Mr. Patton standing behind. (See story on page eight.)”

R12 S1 Sh5 B1 190a was published in the Rodney Mercury on July 14, 1965, with the caption: "Swallow Cliff Cub Camp at Port Glasgow Park was the scene last week of Rodney Cub's annual camp. The boys slept in these tents and used the Scout House as a dining hall, where facilities were improved earlier under the centennial project grant, with further improvement planned by the Old Boy's Ass'n. prior to next year's season. Everyone reports a good time and are looking forward to spending a week there next year. A sign, designating the area as "Swallow Cliff Camp", has been installed."

Black and white photograph used in St. Thomas Times-Journal article published August 26, 1976 with caption: "Two Scouts from Vienna Austria, borthers Chris and Klaus Vavrik are greeted by 18th St. Thomas Venturer Scouts Scott Barker (left) and Paul Hodgins (right) at a reception held for the visitors at the Red Cross Rooms Wednesday night. The Vavrik brothers are visiting their aunt and uncle, Mr. and Mrs. A. Hikele, of 75 Locust Street. At the reception the visitors viewed a slide presentation of the 14th World Jamboree held in Norway last year narrated by Scott Barker, one of the participants and exchanged notes on Scouting in both countries. The Austrian boys were presnted with coffee mugs bearing the Elgin Scout District crest by L. J. Beavis, Elgin district commissioner. A selection of Canadian Scout crests was also presented to the visitors."

"Long-Time Service - Among the Scout leaders of Elgin District honored for their long service Saturday night were, from left, Donald Houghton for 35years, Jacqueline Einwiller for five years, Viola Crabe for 10 years, Betty June Edwards for 20 years, Edythe Bishop for 35 years and Arnold Firby for five years. A number of other recipients of long-service awards were not present to receive them." (80b).

It is hoped that about $1,200 will be raised, according to Don Houghton, chairman of the drive."
