"First Colors - Cadet Lieutenant Glen Burke, of the A.V.V.S. Army Cadet Corps, received the new Corps Colors from Dr. C. M. Finlay, chairman of the Central Elgin District High School Board. Cadet Lieutenant Bob McAffer carries the Union Jack. The Colors are the first held by the corps. Other pictures on page one, second section." (7a)
"Showing Pces - Cadets of the A.V.V.S. corps showed the public what they can do with a rifle during training displays after the annual inspection ceremonies. Corporal Bob Fleming, standing, puts a squad through its paces. Left to right, they are Cdt. Cpl. Harold Kemp, Cdt. James Coombs, Cdt. James Van Vaerenbergh, Cdt. Cpl. Richard Beecoft and Cdt. "Top Cadets - Honor line-up at the Athletic Park on Wednesday as best army cadets of the Arthur Voaden Vocational School Corps receive awards from Capt. A. P. Rankine, cadet training officer for Western Ontario. Cdt. Cpl. Bob Fleming receives the Strathcona award as best shot in the corps. Also in the picture, left to right, are Cadet Lieutenants William Harris, Keith Thompkins, and Jack Green, who collected prizes for best platoon, best cadet and best bandsman respectively." (7c)

3 black and white photographs used in St. Thomas Times-Journal article published May 7, 1959 with captions:
"Salute Color Party - Reviewing officer Maj. R. L. Chantler and A.V.V.S. Corps No. 1341 Commanding Officer Cdt. Maj. Ken Preston are shown passing the color party during their inspection of the ranks on annual parade Wednesday afternoon. Following behind, and hidden by Maj. Chantler's arm, is the inspecting officer, Capt. R.J. Bromley." (13a)
"Inspects Ranks - Maj. R. L. Chantler, who told the Corps he was proud that the cadets were affiliated with the Elgin Regiment, is shown with a company commander inspecting one of the platoons. The Corps also was praised for its steadiness during the two-hour inspection and demonstrations on the hottest day of the year so far." (13b)
"Advance in Review Order - The Arthur Voaden Vocational School Cadet Corps color party is shown passing the saluting base as the Corps held its 15th annual inspection at Hughes Street Park. Taking the salute is Maj. R. L. Chantler, of the Elgin Regiment. Maj. Chantler carried out the inspection on behalf of Lt. Col. J. W. McNeil, officer commanding the Elgins." (13c).

"Prepare for Snow - Mike Kellestine, Grade 11, and Wendy Cowie, Grade 10, put their heads together for a pre-show rehearsal of their part in the AVSS Talent Show, "The Play". The program was presented by students who prepared the event under the direction of E. Zsebik, a teacher at the school. Music was provided by "The Ravens a local four-piece band." (38a)
"AVSS A-GO-GO - These four Go-Go specialists were a main attraction at last night's Arthur Voaden Secondary School Talent Show. The girls performed their lively gyrations periodically throughout the program, keeping the show moving at a rapid pace. Left to right: Judee Crosby, Grade 11; Pat Blackman, Grade 12; Karen Crossett, Grade 10; and Cindy Benn, Grade 11. The annual show was attended by about 500 persons." (38b).
