The Amasa Wood Hospital on Pearl Street was built in 1891, and was demolished in 1965 and replaced by an addition to the south end of the Memorial Chronic Hospital. One copy has a St. Thomas postmark dated January 15, 1913, is written partially in shorthand script and is addressed to Miss Annie Piggott, RR 4, Brigden, Ontario.

Left to right: Miss McLellan, Miss Nellie Brown, Miss Atkin, Dr. Jennie Drennan, Miss Crane, Miss Rose Brooks, Dr. Robert Kains, Miss Rose, Miss Spitler, Dr. J.D. Curtis, Miss Walch. Jennie Drennan was one of the first woman physicians to practice in St. Thomas: she is listed in St. Thomas city directories from 1901 to 1908 (1905-1908 as Medical Superintendent of Amasa Wood Hospital).
