Scope and Content
A U.S. History Television series 'Modern Marvels' episode on Taxidermy. The program profiles aspects of historic taxidermy, including work completed on Jumbo the Elephant who was killed in St. Thomas in September 1885. The program profiles the work of Carl Akeley who was sent by leading taxidermist Henry Ward of New York to salvage the remains. Photographs from the Elgin County Archives' Scott Studio fonds were used and are credited in the program. Program first aired in the United States on March 9, 2005.
