Scope and Content
Two black and white photographs used in St. Thomas Times-Journal article published April 22, 1970 with captions:
"Advanced Work. Many of the students involved in the display at the Southwold Central School Tuesday went far beyond the normal bounds of elementary school age pupils in their search for information. Lance Claus, 13, year seven pupil, said his group studied the automobile in all its aspects, including the new safety cars proposed by some manufacturers. The six-man team spent about one and a half months accumulating data and photographs from the St. Thomas Ford Assembly Plant and local car dealers. Others involved in the project were Roger Lunny, Kevin Smith, Stan Brown, Phillip Hamilton and Terry Gregory." (8a)
"Spans Rocket Age. Interest groups at the Southwold Central School covered a wide range of topics. The year-long program of research and reporting led Tuesday to a display in the gymnasium of the school. John Broere, 12, a year six student, explained to the other pupils in the school how the lunar excursion module works in the Apollo moon missions. He and Rini Bouley, also 12, spent about a month accumulating data and models for the project." (8b)
