Black and white photograph used in St. Thomas Times-Journal article published unknown date with caption: "D & D Opens - The fourth business to begin operation in the new Talbot Court Development (corner of Talbot Street and Woodworth Avenue) officially opens for business Monday. One more store will begin operation in the mall soon. From left are Donald Cook, optician and co-owner of the store; Robert Johnstone, general manager of the St. Thomas Chamber of Commerce; Dennis Dawe, store co-owner and Ed Currah, chairman of the promotion committee for the St. Thomas Commerical and Industrial Development Corporation." The Downtown Development Board designated the downtown core area of Talbot Street the Colonel Talbot Centre after the name was chosen in a contest for students to give the downtown a new name. It is part of the Downtown Development Board's facelift of the core area, which included the installation of new street lights and trees. Each new store of office owner in the core area will be given a Colonel Talbot decal for his premises." (3)
