Scope and Content
Black and white photograph used in St. Thomas Times-Journal article published July 3, 1971 with caption: "Contrasts in art form are shown here in the recently concluded Art Exhibition held at Southwold Public School. The watercolour 'Still Life with Oranges' was painted by Mrs. Neil Munro, Talbot Road West, in 1907, when she was a pupil of the late Ross Osgoode, St. Thomas. The black cedar wood open box titled 'Three Dimensional Mondrian' was made by Miss Dawn Wilson of 28 Regent Street, St. Thomas, in 1971, while a first-year art student at the University of Western Ontario. The four small objects in the centre of the box create a visual flow, recalling the geometric abstraction style of the Netherlands artist, Piet Mondrian. Mrs. R. J. Ketchum, RR 2, Port Stanley, co-ordinator of the art committee of the Southwold School & Community Association, prepares to take down the show, which is open to the public annually."

Black and white photograph used in St. Thomas Times-Journal article published January 8, 1972 with caption: "Even Puppets Have Problems. In a pilot project at the Southwold Central School, a class of Year 1 students spends regular sessions with a special puppet kit and story books to learn more about themselves and others and why people behave the way they do. During the puppet plays, the teacher sometimes gets an insight into what may be troubling certain students. The use of puppets to communicate with children isn't new, but the application in a school counselling context is somewhat innovative. Here, Miss Linda Dawdy works with her class of Year 1 students."

Scope and Content
Four black and white photographs used in St. Thomas Times-Journal article published December 11, 1964 with captions:
"Opening Saturday. The official opening of Southwold Township School Area No. 1 Central School located on Talbot Road, just west of St. Thomas, will be held on Saturday at 2 p.m. The bright, modern, five-classroom school replaces six one-room schools located within the Township School Area. The buff-brick building was designed by G. Duncan Black, of St. Thomas, consulting engineer. The building was constructed by Haramac Construction Co. Ltd. of St. Thomas." (1a)
"Spacious Classrooms. A bright, spacious atmosphere conducive to learning, is the keynote at the central school located in Southwold Township School Area No.1. The new school, being occupied by 138 pupils removed from six one-room country schools is located on Talbot Road just west of St. Thomas. A typical classroom scene is this one in principal Gordon Sim's Grade 7 and 8 class." (1b)
"A Novelty in Rural Schools. For rural school children, an all-purpose room where they can receive physical education instruction and play indoor games is indeed a novelty. The multi-purpose room at the Southwold Township area school is a spacious one that can be used for assemblies, indoor sports and several other activities. Playing in the modern room are left to right, Jim Lyle, R.R. 1. St. Thomas; Phillip Jones, R.R. 1. St. Thomas; Heather Crabe, R.R. 1. Fingal, and Jeanette Butler, R.R. 1. St. Thomas." (1c)
