Description
Advertising poster for the Michigan Central Railroad for Sept. 18 - 26, 1890. The poster advertises fares to the London Fair, in London, Ontario. Stops are noted for Windsor beginning at 5:25 a.m. from all stops west (Essex Centre, Woodslee, Ruscomb, Tilbury, Comber, Fletcher, Buxton, Charing Cross, Fargo, Harwich, Weldon's, Ridgetown, Highgate, Muirkirk, Taylor, Rodney, Bismark, Dutton, Iona and Shedden) to St. Thomas at 10:05. The stops from the east arrive in St. Thomas at 9:40 beginning from Welland and all stops east (Hewitt, Perry, Montague, Attercliffe, Canfield, Cayuga, Dufferin, Hagersville, Townsend, Villa Nova, Waterford, Windham, Port Dover Junct, Hawtrey, Cornell, Tilsonburg, Brownsville, Springfield, Aylmer, Kingsmill). The trains arrive in London at 11:00 a.m. It is noted that the returning train will leave the Michigan Central Depot at the corner of Bathurst and Clarence Streets at 6:30 p.m. The poster is printed with blue ink on what is now yellow/brown paper.
Condition Information
fragile, tears have been repaired with Japanese paper and wheat starch. Stained in the lower right portion of the easterly stops. This poster was washed in water and encapsulated in mylar.
