"Field Day team champs - Assumption-Holy Rosary Separate School of Aylmer won the team championship at the Elgin County Separate School Board Track and Field Meet this week and had three individual overall winners among their award recipients. Overall winners with the team trophy are from left, senior girls' champion Judi Hoffer who tied with Rosie Brasil of West Lorne's St. Mary's which was a close second, intermediate boys' champion Rick DeCou[]tere, intermediate girls' champion Julie Bossuyt, and coach Joe Van Dyk, one of several coaches for the school." Paul, an 11-year-old Grade 6 student, also took first place in the junior 400 metres, was second in the junior 100 metres and was a member of W.S. Morrison's second place 400-metre relay team. Competing were Rodney, West Lorne, Aldborough, and the Dutton-Duniwch Public Schools, plus St. Thomas More and St. Mary's Separate Schools. Displaying their individual champioship trophies are Nan Fordham, who won the intermediate trophy with 20 of the school's 49-point total; Principal Ross Brewer with the championship trophy, and Janice Welch and Betty Szusz who were tied for the senior championship."

Aldborough made a clean sweep of championships in boys' classes, with Dave Johnston, winning the senior championship, Paul Gilbert winner of the intermediate championship, and Neil Havens winning the junior championship. W9 B5 267 was published in the West Lorne Sun on June 25, 1969, with the caption: "Bicycle Roadeo Winners last week at Aldborough Public School had to be good to win, because the top boy's score was 248 points and the top girl's 245, in written and riding tests. Front row: Ian Gillies, 248 points; Rudy Watterlaus, 245; Jim Coburn, 235; Mike Baranowski, 234. Back row: Shirley Cornwall, 245 points; Corinne Lupsor, 235; Constable Vincent Amlin of the Dutton OPP who conducted the roadeo with the assistance of several teachers; Anne Johnston, 226; and Alice Vanderbrink, 225 points. First place winners received handsome trophies made available by Rodney Legion, and a generator and headlight for their bikes. Second place prize was a coated wire carrier, third place a kick stand, and fourth a bell. The bicycle accessory prizes were amde available by Rodney Kiwanis Club."
