"Meet's Father's Pupil - William Thomas Diefenbaker, father of John Diefenbaker, taught school in the late 1900s at the schoolhouse on highway 19, a mile-and-a-half south of Norwich. Mr. Diefenbaker is seen here at the former school joking with a former pupil of his father's, Mrs. Ernest Jull, 80, of Otterville. The school was renovated into an eight-bedroom house in 1948." (3b)

"Greets Band Members - The first group of Indians from Muncey Reserve to greet Prime Minister Diefenbaker after his arrival were members of the Senior Band, dressed in full regalia as they escorted Mr. and Mrs. Diefenbaker to the doorway of Mount Elgin School on the reserve. An estimated 1,000 and adults of the reserve were on hand to see Mr. Diefenbaker present an autographed copy of Canada's Bill of Rights to the school. It was the last stop on the PM's tour of West Middlesex schools prior to his making a major address at Strathroy last night." (1a)
"PM and Mrs. - Prolonged applause greeted Prime Minister and Mrs. John Diefenbaker yesterday when they alit from their car at Mount Elgin School, Muncey Indian Reserve. Mrs. Diefenbaker created an everlasting impression among the Indians, greeting as many as possible in a short length of time." (1b)
"Flowers for First Lady - Probably the most important occasion in the young life of Carole Antone, a student at Mount Elgin School, Muncey Indian Reserve, occurred yesterday when she had the honor of presenting a corsage to Mrs. John Diefenbaker, wife of the Prime Minister. Mrs. Diefenbaker accompanied her husband to the school where he presented the school with an autographed copy of the Canadian Bill of Rights." (1c)
"PM Arrives at Muncey - The warm reception given Prime Minister Diefenbaker on his arrival at the Mount Elgin School, Muncey, yesterday wasn't quite enough to keep him from getting chilled when he stepped from his car and he was forced to don his overcoat. "Rousing Welcome - A huge crowd estimated by police to be 3,500 people lined Talbot Street this morning to get what was probably their first glimpse of Prime Minister Trudeau. Mr. Trudeau gave a short speech to the placard-waving audience and told them there would be a strong federal government. Many of the crowd stood under a hot sun for more than 40 minutes waiting to hear Mr. Trudeau speak. Following the speech, he travelled to Aylmer and then on to Simcoe and Brantford." (4b)
