File contains miscellaneous political ephemera relating to elections and candidates in Elgin County and St. Thomas. Includes brochures, posters, postcards, newspaper clippings, election notice cards and items such as matchboxes and calendars branded with candidates. This file also contains an Assignment of Mortgage Indenture between The Honorable Sir William Mulock & Lady Sarah Ellen Cawthra Mulock and William Mulock, the Younger regarding Lot 12, Concession 5 in the Township of Townsend, County of Norfolk. Also includes a greeting card signed by Lester B. Pearson in celebration of a Golden Anniversary.
Autograph book collected and maintained by Mrs. Mary Crothers, with enclosed correspondence and other documents relating to the political career of her husband, Thomas Wilson Crothers, who served as MP, Elgin West, 1908-1921; Minister of Labour, 1911-1918; and Senator (1921). Includes original signed correspondence from Sir John A. Macdonald (Prime Minister of Canada, 1867-1873, 1878-1891), Sir Robert L. Borden (Prime Minister of Canada, 1911-1920) and Sam Hughes (Minister of Militia and Defence, 1911-1916).
File contains voting ballots for the following local elections:
-1882 Election for the Electoral Districy of the West Riding of the County of Elgin. Candidates listed include George Elliott Casey and Alexander Clark. Note: the ballots contain a typo that inccorectly dates the election as being held in 1822 (3 ballots)
-1943 Election for Alderman of the Municipal Council of the City of St. Thomas. Candidates listed include Achibald C. Askew, J. Bruce Caldwell, Deorge T. Dyer, Charles M. Finlay, John Handford, John Lane, Peter J. McLean, E. Forbes Raven, George E. Richardson, George F. Rose, Richard A. Sanders, and J. Carson Smith.
