Studio portrait of Corporal Charles Frederick Else (left), a member of the Royal Canadian Air Force, with two other soldiers, one possibly being his brother, Fred T. Else, and the other possibly being a family member or friend, ca. 1940. Charles and Fred are sons to Nelson and Mary Else, 102 Alma Street, St. Thomas. Charles died serving with the R.C.A.F. in the Second World War on May 6, 1942. His death was announced in the St. Thomas Times-Journal on May 7, 1942, page 1, C8.

Scope and Content
Two studio portraits of Corporal Charles Frederick Else, a member of the Royal Canadian Air Force. Cpl. Else was probably photographed while at the R.C.A.F. No. 1 Technical Training School, St. Thomas, the R.C.A.F. No. 14 Service Flying Training School, Aylmer, or the R.C.A.F. No. 4 Bombing and Gunnery School, Fingal, ca. 1940. He was born in 1918 to Nelson and Mary Else, 102 Alma Street, St. Thomas, and died serving with the R.C.A.F. in the Second World War on May 6, 1942. His death was announced in the St. Thomas Times-Journal on May 7, 1942, page 1, C8.

Black and white photograph used in St. Thomas Times-Journal article published June 30, 1967 with caption:" It was a proud and happy day for St. Thomas on that afternoon in 1919 when the 91st Batallion marched down Talbot Street. World War I had ceased in November, 1918, and this Victory Parade was the city and country's way of formally celebrating the occasion." Returning soldiers are shown marching west on Talbot Street near City Hall - shows the north side of Talbot Street between Mondamin and St. Catharine Streets, looking east from White Street.
