The weatherman was kind as clear skies and cooler temperatures combined to make for a perfect evening. Henry Muench, director of vocational and recreational services, said other years they have alternated a field day with a carnival but it was felt the summerfest, with its bingo, dance and pool party featuring a band, and steak supper, would encourage more participation. About 850 persons were expected to take part in the celebration of summer, including 100 out patients there for the festivities."
