Black and white photograph of Pte. George William Bowes (Regimental Number 190102), included in the Paynes Mills Women's Institute Tweedsmuir History, page 252. Pte. Bowes was born on May 8, 1982 and enlisted with the 91st Battalion in March, 1916. He served with the 36th Reserve in England and the 38th Battalion in France, and saw action in Ypres and the Somme. He was injured at the Somme and discharged in December, 1917.

Black and white photograph of First World War Soldier Pte. Garfield Edwin Page (Regimental Number 190150), included in the Paynes Mills Women's Institute Tweedsmuir History, page 248. Pte. Page was born on January 27, 1897 and enlisted in March, 1916 with the 91st Battalion in St. Thomas at the age of 19. He left for England in June, 1916 and was transferred to the 38th Battalion. Page was involved in battle at Belgium, the Somme, Vimy Ridge, and Passchendaele. He was wounded on October 31, 1917 and returned to Canada in October, 1918. He was honourably discharged in February, 1920.

Black and white photograph of First World War Soldier WIlfred Ernest Nelson (Regt. Number 3131443), included in the Eden Women's Institute Tweedsmuir History, Vol. 2, page 125. Nelson was born on March 15th, 1894* in Cottam, Ontario. He was drafted into the CEF in January, 1918 and served with the Canadian Infantry 31st Battalion in France and England. He was wounded in the Battle of Amiens in August, 1918, and returned home in April, 1919.
*N.B. The biography of Nelson included on page 125 gives his birth year as 1897, but his Attestation Papers give it as 1894.

Thomas George Reynolds was born in 1897, the son of Mr. and Mrs. J.A. Reynolds in St. Thomas, Ontario. He was part of the 1st Battalion, Canadian Infantry Division (Western Ontario Regiment). He was killed in France on August 30, 1918 and is buried in Sun Quarry Cemetery in Pas de Calais, France.

Based on a review of digitized attestation papers and service files at Library and Archives Canada, it is most likely that the soldier shown is Fredrick Powless, 802776; born on the Oneida Settlement, Delaware Township, May 24, 1886; enlisted at Muncey, Ontario, January 19, 1916, and assigned to the 135th Battalion, C.E.F.; next of kin reported as his wife, Julia Powless, residing in Southwold Township, Ontario.

Several men named Schuyler from the Oneida, Muncee and Delaware first nations enlisted in the Canadian Expeditionary Force. The most likely possible identifications for this man, based on his age and marital status are:
