Scope and Content
"Elgin-Enlist": Photocopy of a poem that was published in a newspaper, ca.1915. It was written by Roy Stevenson of Dutton High School, to encourage Elgin residents to enlist during the First World War.
"List of Men Who Paid the Supreme Sacrifice in the Two World Wars". Was at one time published in the Dutton Advance. The list is likely of Dutton men who served in the wars. It is also possible that it is a list of Dunwich Township men (2 copies)

Dowler Ltd., clothiers, 489-491; R.H. Beattie, baker and confectioner, 515-517 (at street level in three-storey building with date stone reading "Central Block 1882"); P.R. Williams & Son, undertakers, 519; the Princess Theatre, 525; Porter & Nelson, jewelers, 527; Sandham & Roberts, electrical contractors, 531, "Everything Electrical" sign; William Barrett, barber, 533; Ranson A. Robins, cigars and billiards, 535. The Columbia Hotel on the northwest corner of Talbot and Mondamin Streets, 537-539, is just out of view to the right.

Auckland was born March 31, 1895, son of John R. Auckland, Talbotville. Pte. Auckland enlisted June 17, 1918, at London, Ontario, and served in Canada with the 1st Depot Battalion, Western Ontario Regiment (WOR). Auckland was discharged from active service on December 12, 1918.
