A forward appears at the top of the pile expaining what thletters are and their overall purpose. These letters were used for teaching purposes by Gray and George Thorman. Hattie Robinson served as Secretary of the Elgin Branch of the Canadian War Contingency Association (C. W. C. A.) during their First World War activities.

Black and white photograph of Ft.-Lt. Herbert Thomson and his wife, Mrs. Sarah Thomson, included in the Kingsmill-Mapleton Women's Institute Tweedsmuir History, Volume Three, page 340. Ft.-Lt. Thomson served as part of Billy-Bishop's "Flying Circus" squadron in the First World War. His wife, Sarah, passed away on December 25, 1968. Ft.-Lt. Thomson passed away on May 5, 1970 at the age of 75.
