Scope and Content
Black and white photograph used in St. Thomas Times-Journal article published October 15, 1971 with caption: "Show Appreciation - The Catfish Creek Conservation Authority presented a desk set to Russell Powell, resources manager for the Catfish and Kettle Creek Conservation Authorities for the past 15 months. Mr. Powell has been assigned to the Long Point Region Conservation Authority. Seen here, from left to right, are new Resources Manager Hugh Avey, CCCA Chariman Tom Hume, and Mr. Powell." (1)
Black and white photograph used in St. Thomas Times-Journal article published August 23, 1980 with caption: "Corkscrew Solution - This is the scene of one of the Catfish Creek Conservation Authority's more dramatic achievements. The creek was rerouted from below the banks of Gord Gracey's RR 7, Aylmer tree farm, where it was slowly eroding his property, to a point over 100 feet away. The trees planted in the background are a hybrid invention of Mr. Gracey's called corkscrew willows, whose roots won't interfere with the passage of the creek. Pud Hunter (left), authority resource manager, admires the handiwork with Mr. Gracey." (2)
Two black and white photographs used in St. Thomas Times-Journal article published October 11, 1980 with caption:
"Batteries Extra - Elsbeth and Kizito Van Asten have just what every kid needs, a working model of reservoir complete with water, a windmill and irrigation pipes, and pipelines to supply water to a city. The two won special project trophy Friday at Kettle Creek Conservation Authority's 4-H Conservation Club awards night. Story and another picture on page 3." (3a)
"All Winners - All members of the Kettle Creek Conservation Authority's 4-H Conservation Club received something at the awards dinner, Friday night. Some were given trophies for special projects and achievements and others received plaques commemorating their first year in 4-H. Old members got small "1980" bars to add to their existing plaques. Pictured are from left, front row - Mark Pollex, Kathy Jenkins, Beth Bennett, Karen Bennett, and Kizito Van Asten; second row - Bryan Hall, club leader, Dan McKenzie, Jeannette Ostrander, Marlene Cummings, Elsbeth Van Asten, Dan Shakelton and Diane Weits; standing at back Gord Shakelton and Dave Lawrence." (3b)
Black and white photograph used in St. Thomas Times-Journal article published March 17, 1981 with caption: "Welcomes New Manager - Pud Hunter, right, welcomes Bill Mungall, his successor to the post of resources manager for the Catfish Creek Conservation Authority. Mr. Mungall comes from the ministry of natural resources at its regional office in London. Mr. Hunter has been transferred to the ministry's Aylmer office, where he is the former district biologist." (4)
Fifteen newspaper clippings ca. April 13, 1968 - April 15, 1980 describing the conservation authorities combined work programs, junior conservationist award program, trips and seminars, planned mergers and managers. (5)
