Scope and Content
Black and white photograph used in St. Thomas Times-Journal article published [1979?] with caption: "Shades of Don Quixote - Aylmer residents packed Balmoral Park Sunday to watch donkey baseball as the town's clubs sought to raise money for lights which are planned for Optimist Park. Members of the Optimists, Knights of Columbus, Kinsmen and Rotary clubs took part in the game. Spectators got a real kick out of the on-field shenanigans, which featured the unpredictable antics of major league donkeys. Fielders were required to catch flies and make throws from their mounts. Batters, after hitting the ball, had to circle the bases on their mulish burros. Gladys, also known as Optimist Bob Cresswell, makes a throw from third aboard his 'Unnamed Mule'."
