Black and white photograph, sepia-toned. In the background of the image is a two-storeyed house, with two visible chimneys and an arched window above its doorway. In the foreground, along a fence extending from the house, is a group of people who pose for the camera. At the far left there are four women standing behind two other seated individuals, an elderly man and elderly woman. The elderly man holds a baby, seated on his lap. At the right is a horse, with a white blaze-type marking down its face. To its right are three men, all moustachioed, the leftmost of which wears a hat. Its matting is thin and also sepia-toned, and is captioned "J.S. JENKINS, AYLMER." It is displayed in a silver-coloured wooden frame and overlaid with glass. The frame is carved with an ornate, organic pattern.

It has a sheltered porch and two visible chimneys. In front of the house is a well, a barn, and a cart full of hay. A small stream runs across the lower right portion of the image. Another house and a line of trees appears on the horizon. The painting is displayed without glass in a golden-coloured frame. The frame is incised with a repeating geometric pattern.
