Scope and Content
An essay on the history of farms and families in the area of Bayham Concession 10. Written by Duane Duff of Lawrencetown, Nova Scotia, and sent to the Elgin County Archives in October 2020.
The essay primarily discusses the Firby farm, which was the second farm on the south side of Bayham Concession 10 (now Best Line) west of Corinth. This was later the farm where Duane Duff grew up. The essay discusses the history of the land, the Firby family, and neighbouring families. It also mentions the following people and subjects: Dan Floto, Jerry McKenney, Wilfred Travis, the tile and brick yard that Jackson Firby owned, the Orvis Babcock family, the Charlie Jennings family, a swimming hole called Jerry Creek, the Firby Cemetery, the Corinth School Reunion in 1995, Margaret Ronson, Andy Ronson, Olive Jennings, and Harold Summers.
