Scope and Content
"Elgin-Enlist": Photocopy of a poem that was published in a newspaper, ca.1915. It was written by Roy Stevenson of Dutton High School, to encourage Elgin residents to enlist during the First World War.
"List of Men Who Paid the Supreme Sacrifice in the Two World Wars". Was at one time published in the Dutton Advance. The list is likely of Dutton men who served in the wars. It is also possible that it is a list of Dunwich Township men (2 copies)

Two images showing a model bombing trench for troop training exercises at Borden Military Camp, Ontario, ca. 1916. Image 145_95495b includes a background view of a tent encampment. Both images were likely prepared for inclusion in a commemorative booklet similar to the "Badger Album" and include spaces for descriptive labels: the label for image 145_95495a is missing but the label for image 145_95495b reads "Bombing Trench - Camp Borden No. 11".

"First To Arrive- Lieutenant David Olson (left) and Officer Cadet Morley Doan were the first two men to make it to their destination in the Elgin Regiment's prisoner exercise. The two slept in a ditch for an hour Friday night. They were dropped off farther away than anyone else." (C8 Sh4 B1 F1 54a)

Black and white photograph used in St. Thomas Times-Journal article published August 9, 1975 with caption: "Breakfast Is Served- About 35 members of the Elgin Regiment left today for Camp Meaford for military exercises called Milcon '75. They will join about 1,000 members of other regiments for the major combined exercises at Canadian Forces Base Petawawa, Aug. 21 and 22. Major John Shaw, centre, whips up breakfast of bacon and eggs, toast and coffee for the hungry militiamen, helped by Private Pat Nunn, right. Private Mike Crandall, left, and Private Paul Steer, wiping the sleep from his eyes, line up for food. The troops slept at the Armories Friday night, rose at 5:30 a.m. and left for London at 7:30 a.m. to join others of the regiment for the convoy to Meaford."
