Black and white photograph used in St. Thomas Times-Journal article published November 12, 1971 with caption: "Annual Veterans' Dinner for Branch 41 - Roy Palmerston, who will be 93 years old later this month, was the oldest veteran present, Thursday evening, when an estimated 260 veterans, legionnaires and their wives sat down for the annual Veterans' Dinner at the Legion Hall on John Street. Mr. Palmerston it the last surviving veteran of The Boer War attached to the local Legion branch. With Mr. Palmerston are Mrs. H. J. (Maxine) Tripp, president of the Ladies' Auxiliary to Branch 41, who prepared and served the meal, and Fred McKinney, past president of Branch 441, and chairman of special events for the current year."
