File contains letter from Archie Anderson to Kate Wegg and Robert Marshall Anderson, written during the Boer War, dated April 8th, 1900
Letter was written on board the SS Pembroke Castle, near the Bay of Bisloy (?), a few days journey from England; they were due in London on the day Archie is writing, but the poor weather has delayed them
Although the voyage has been rough, Archie states that his health has improved (ill or injured in South Africa?); he mentions that he has spent 8 weeks in bed due to his condition and is expecting to stay at a hospital upon his arrival in England
Discusses the varying classes of men who are in the army (some from "Whitechapel and like places" and others are "perfect gentlemen")
